Left Behind Child

To those who have been raised by others and to those who have been unable to provide for their own:

Left Behind Child

Left behind child I see you in the rear-view mirror
I feel your tears as they fall
but I know you're better off where you are
and I pray

You can't tell my heart is breaking over you.
You don't see the tears that I cry too.
Take your Grandma's hand and close the door;
You can't need me anymore

Left behind child I see you in the rear-view mirror.
I feel your tears as they fall
but I know you're better off where you are
and I pray

Someday soon, I'll come back and take you home.
Until then you must be Grandma's girl.
Don't forge those words of love I left.
As I kissed your finger tips.

Left behind child I see you in the rear-view mirror.
I feel your tears as they fall
but I know you're better off where you are
I pray.
